Oct 26, 2013 Sandra presented a 90 minute workshop on Maternal Health Literacy: A personal and community asset at the 4th Annual Conference on Centering Healthcare, Washington, DC.

August 19-20, 2013  Sandra Smith presented at the Montana State Early Childhood Council's first Family Support Summit.

May 1-4 Sandra Smith was in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for an invitational international workshop that aimed to form a "knowledge hub" re health literacy measurement, and to come to consensus on a measure of health literacy to assess chronic disease self-management.

Sandra Smith was the keynote speaker. A big question for this conference was-What is the role of mothers in their children's recovery? What is their role in the hospital? Sandra was asked to address empowering mothers for health.

December 10-13, San Juan, Puerto Rico: Sandra Smith participated as a Plenary Lecturer during the 13 RCMI International Symposium on Health Disparities.

May 19-23, Southampton, England: Sandra Smith participated in a World Wide Universities Health Literacy Network invitational conference to recommend a global agenda for health literacy research.

May 11, Poplar Bluff, MO: Sandra Smith lead the Parents As Teachers Health Literacy Demonstration Project’s closing reflection conference.  Participating parent educators, funder, PAT-National leadership, and the research team will review and interpret the data, discuss successes, challenges and lessons learned, and recommend next steps for integrating health literacy promotion into parent educators’ practice.
February 9, 2012 Seattle: Sandra Smith spoke on “Health Literacy, Beyond Better Information” for the Children’s Environmental Working Group of the Collaborative on Health and the Environment-WA. 

November 9, 2011, St Louis: Sandra Smith presented an update on the Parents as Teachers Health Literacy Demonstration Project at the PAT National Convention
December 8, 2011, Washington, DC: SS presented a 90-minute workshop on promoting health literacy through reflective practice at the Zero to Three National Training Institute
